From the series "If Walls Could Talk"
"Willow Court was originally built as an invalid barracks for convicts in 1827. As it expanded, Willow Court accepted patients with various ailments including: epilepsy, malaria, alcoholism, intellectual disability and ciminal insanity. Adolescents and children were also admitted. The hospital became known exclusivley as a mental institution after 1848 and in 1968 the name was changed to The Royal Derwent Hospital. The complex now contains 25 buildings and was closed down in 2001." This image is part of the original willow court building c.1830. The steps lead to the part of the building that was a makeshift morgue called "The Dead House" |

 reports, 1d 20h agoDaily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
